It all comes down to the ending, for most fans, and I liked it. It made everything make sense, it explained how this world happened, which is more than the modern YA speculative fiction really cares to do, and therefor sort of harkened back, for me, to ye olden days of speculative and science fiction. The characters are some of the most relatable in YA that I've read, and it felt good to see Tris tell Tobias that either he loves her and trusts her and believes in what she's doing, or he doesn't and that's it; it feels like so many YA relationship troubles could be solved with this one simple act of self-reliance and confidence. It loses a star for being longer than the story really warranted. But all in all, a good read.
